About the Programme

The Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program has been established to provide the aviation sector with highly qualified "Cabin Crew" needed for continuous development in global standards.

In aviation literature, a cabin crew member is a professional responsible for the complete implementation of necessary safety and security measures on aircraft that transport passengers and for ensuring the highest level of passenger comfort (SHGM, 2021). Aware of this critical responsibility, our program equips our students not only with technical knowledge but also with the high-level discipline and competence required by the profession.

Programme Mission

To train cabin crew members who are proficient in civil aviation regulations and safety procedures, provide quality passenger services, communicate effectively within the team, respect different cultures, and use aviation English.

To be a program that monitors safety and service quality together, preferred by graduates as cabin crew in national and international airline companies.

Programme Educational Objectives

PEA1: Graduates apply normal and emergency safety and security procedures in cabin services in accordance with national and international regulations.

PEA2: Graduates provide passenger services according to service quality principles; they perform basic practices related to first aid and hazardous materials.

PEA3: Graduates work within the cabin crew using team resource management principles; they communicate effectively with passengers and crew members in Turkish and aviation English.

PEA4: Graduates provide services to passengers from different cultures in accordance with ethical values and plan their career development with practical experiences.

Programme Outcomes

Students who successfully complete the programme achieve the following programme outcomes (PO):

  1. Possesses knowledge of the legislation and legal regulations governing civil aviation.
  2. Comprehends safety procedures and protocols for both normal and emergency situations.
  3. Understands the principles of flight, aircraft systems, and their operational mechanisms.
  4. Implements passenger services, service quality principles, and operational tasks within cabin service processes.
  5. Adheres to requirements for safety, security, occupational health and safety, quality, and environmental protection in cabin service practices.
  6. Evaluates professional challenges, human factors, and performance limitations in cabin services to develop appropriate solution proposals.
  7. Conducts fundamental applications regarding first aid, basic medical intervention, and dangerous goods (DGR) during cabin service operations.
  8. Utilizes information technologies, digital systems, and artificial intelligence-supported tools in professional aviation practices.
  9. Performs duties within the cabin crew with an understanding of effective communication and teamwork; takes responsibility in unforeseen circumstances.
  10. Communicates effectively and accurately in Turkish, both verbally and in writing, with passengers, crew members, and other service units.
  11. Monitors field-related information and establishes professional communication using a foreign language, including Aviation English.
  12. Acts in accordance with professional, social, cultural, and ethical values when interacting with passengers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  13. Follows contemporary developments in the field and plans career progression by leveraging practical professional experiences.

Internship

In the Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program, students must complete a 20 working days mandatory internship as a graduation requirement. The internship is carried out in public or private sector organizations suitable for the program's professional field, in accordance with the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Vocational School Internship Regulation and the internship calendar determined by the School Board.

Vertical Transfer Options

Graduates of the Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program can transition to relevant undergraduate programs announced in the DGS guide each year, provided they pass the Vertical Transition Exam (DGS) conducted by ÖSYM. Main programs include:

Accreditation

The Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program of Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Transportation and Logistics Vocational School has applied for accreditation from the Vocational Education Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MEDEK) to document the quality of education with national and international standards; the program is currently undergoing the MEDEK evaluation process.

During this process, the program's education-teaching processes, student-centered practices, academic staff, program outcomes, assessment-evaluation methods, and quality assurance studies are being reviewed in accordance with MEDEK criteria; continuous improvement activities are being carried out with the opinions of students, graduates, and stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement

Within the program, student satisfaction surveys, advisory meetings, internal and external stakeholder opinions, and graduate feedback are regularly evaluated. Improvement activities are planned, implemented, and necessary updates are made based on the data obtained.
